Periphrastic or Eloquent?

SBI PO is the talk of the town at present! To get into a prestigious bank i.e. SBI; one has go through multiple stages. One such stage is the Descriptive (Typing) Test which follows the Mains paper every year. It is a 30 minute test which tests a candidate on his/her writing skills. It carries 50 marks and plays a vital role in the selection or rejection of a candidate. A decent score in the same enables a candidate get an edge over the others.

Who scores better?

To know how to write is not an achievement here. You would end up scoring only the basic marks that way. Gone are the days (the good old college days) where being Periphrastic fetched you marks but here what will be valued is your Eloquence which means if you can articulate your ideas and put them clearly into words which are easily understandable you will be able to rule the roost!
