Let’s learn the most important and frequently asked variety of questions asked in any of the mains exams. If one is logical and can easily understand the logic then he or she can gain good marks in this section. These questions are basically asked in a set of 5 questions. These questions have three things Input, Steps and Output and if anyone goes wrong in any of the steps then he or she can lose marks but if they understands the logic and makes the correct steps then they can get full five marks. Basically these questions are time consuming and the only difficulty of these questions is that we become lazy while doing these questions.

You may be asked to arrange the numbers in descending order or ascending order or some sentence in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order. But now a day’s these question have changed you can get the number series or alphabetical or alphanumerical series with a tough logic to understand.
For example if we put something in an electronic device it rearranges with a particular rule following particular steps. That’s what we have to do while solving these questions.
Basically there are two methods of Input and Output:-

1. Shifting Method
2. Swapping Method

Let us first understand the,

1. Shifting Method:

This method is simple as compared to the swapping but again IBPS or SBI guys can play with the logic which can consume your lot of time. In this method if some variable comes ahead then the other one shifts back for example-
Input: 12, 11, 13, 25, 21, 27
Step I: 27, 12, 11, 13, 25, 21
Step II: 27, 25, 12, 11, 13, 21
Step III: 27, 25, 21, 12, 11, 13
Step IV: 27, 25, 21, 13, 12, 11
Step IV is the last step which means the output. The arrangement which is going on is in descending order.

2. Swapping Method

In this method two variables swap with each other.
Input: 12, 11, 13, 25, 21, 27
Step I: 27, 11, 13, 25, 21, 12
Step II: 27, 21, 13, 25, 11, 12
Step III: 27, 21, 25, 13, 11, 12
Step IV: 27, 21, 25, 13, 12, 11

You can see in the following example if highest number 27 is coming ahead the other one goes at the place of 27.

That’s in fact is pretty basic that must be known by the students by now. We here wish to share with you the exact Input Output questions asked in the Mains in various exams in the previous years. This would help you understand the logic and be mentally prepared for such questions in the coming IBPS PO Mains 2016
